Just a quickie...

Amazing 24 bug completely wiped me out. Anyhow…

Started a teaser campaign on FaceBook. Not too much, not too fast.

Doing a TON of reading.

Leaving town for the weekend, so wife can take some CE classes, which leaves me wandering around the convention center. Could be a good time to work on my cold reading skills with people from different areas.

Brushing up on actuarial data and Forer “feelings” type stuff, staying away from straight Barnum statements, but that is a fall back.

Why a blog?

As a regular member of several magician’s forums, I am intrigued by the number of people who ask questions about doing “a show”. The same answers are repeated many times, always with bits of wisdom added by the “old pros”.

While I am not exactly new to the art, I am newly returning to the field, after an absence of nearly 30 years. I’ve done shows before, from the stage, the living room, and the banquet hall, so there is some seasoning in that.

But I’ve never designed a show entirely about Mentalism. This is new to me. I don’t know what the final outcome will be, but I hope it at least pays for itself, for the time and effort required, the props and equipment needed, the cost of venues and services, and in the personal output of multiple individuals that will be called upon in their various positions to make the whole thing work.

And while I’m at it, maybe some young hopefuls will be watching, learning from my successes, and dodging my mistakes.
